Dale Hunter

Dr. Dale Hunter is a pioneer in the field of group facilitation and the author of the international classic The Art of Facilitation. She researches and promotes co-operative work and facilitates organisational development. Dale leads facilitator training workshops internationally, including many ground-breaking Master Classes which engage facilitators at their leading edges in their chosen field, method and practice.

She is a co-founder and Director of Zenergy Ltd. a company providing face to face and online facilitation, mediation, and coaching services to government, business and community sectors.

The Zenergy 6 module Diploma of Facilitation, was co-designed by Hunter. 2000 people have now participated in one or more of these training programmes. Dale has led facilitation workshops in Europe (UK, Germany), USA, Canada, China, Malaysia, South Africa and the Caribbean as well as in Australia and New Zealand, where she is based.

Dale Hunter is the principal co-author of The Art of Facilitation (fully revised), Handling Groups in Action: The Use of Distinctions in Facilitation; The Zen of Groups and Co-operacy – A New Way of Being at Work. She has also contributed chapters to the IAF Handbook of Group Facilitation (2005) and Creating a Culture of Collaboration (2006) published by Jossey-Bass.

Hunter’s doctoral thesis (2003) is entitled “Facilitation of sustainable co-operative processes in organisations” from the Social Ecology Research Group (SERG) at the University of Western Sydney, Hawkesbury, Australia.

Dr. Hunter is a sustaining member of the International Association of Facilitators, a former board member and Vice Chair International (2001-2007) and was instrumental in the development of the IAF Code of Ethics for Group Facilitators. She facilitated at the World Summit for Sustainable Development Stakeholders Forum in Johannesburg in 2002.
